NAZA: The Movie Israel doesn't want you to see

Not In My Name NH and the UCC Church of Durham present NAZA, from the directors of “No Other Land” and featuring anonymous testimony from Israeli military and intelligence officers about the widespread disregard for collateral civilian causalities (NAZA).

NAZA recently won the jury award at the Venice Film Festival after receiving a record-breaking 25-minute standing ovation. But Israeli government officials call the directors traitors and have called for the revocation of their Israeli citizenship.

Following the screening, there will be discussion about this new film and the controversy surrounding it. The event is free, and no preregistration is required, but donations our welcome on this site and at the door. Palestinian olive oil, and arts and crafts will be available for sale.

Cosponsors include NH Peace Action Education Fund, Palestine Education Network, NHCUCC Peace with Justice Advocates, Veterans for Peace, September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, Karin and Stephen Barndollar, NH Peacekeepers.

Not in My Name NH & 3S Artspace Present: Palestine 36 - film & conversation

Please join Not in My Name NH and 3S Artspace for a screening of Palestine 36. The screening will be followed by a Q&A facilitated by Not in My Name NH. The evening will also include a marketplace of Palestinian art and crafts, and olive oil from the West Bank.

Film synopsis:
Palestine ‘36 captures a defining era in Palestine’s history. Set in 1936 as villages across Mandatory Palestine rise against British colonial rule, Yusuf drifts between his rural home and the restless energy of Jerusalem, longing for a future beyond the growing unrest. But history is relentless. With rising numbers of Jewish immigrants escaping antisemitism in Europe, and the Palestinian population uniting in the largest and longest uprising against Britain’s 30-year dominion, all sides spiral towards inevitable collision in a decisive moment for the British Empire and the future of the entire region.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Annemarie Jacir and shortlisted for an Academy Award®, Palestine ‘36 stars Hiam Abbas, Yasmine Al Massri, Jeremy Irons, Robert Aramayo, Saleh Bakri, and Liam Cunningham, whose powerful performances bring this important story to life.
